So, we are going to start a group in which at least 10 of us each adopt one division of knowledge each week and are responsible for creating a set of cards for that division that week.
As it is my thought is that we should just alternate divisions by signing up one each week with whatever category we intend to do. Right now I am working on completing sets for each of the 50 states I'd like to start w/ geography. If people want to choose one division for the next week, for which they will be responsible for making either 5 or 10 cards(What do you guys think is reasonable? My thought is, that since you only do 5 encyclopedic cards at a time 5 is probably good to start.) Then you can just post your division and chosen category.

So the divisions are:
Mathematics
Art
Geography - States of the United States of America
Literature
Language
Science
Biology
Music
Human Physiology
History

I hope this will be lots of fun and give us all a chance to give our children a very full and diverse program.

NBailey signed up for Human Physiology, any other takers? And any preferences on if we do 5 a week or 10?

Should I provide more than one picture per bit? With handmade bits, you only show one picture, but with little reader you can show more than one to demonstrate the bit. I am not sure if it is more beneficial to show a few pictures or just the one to keep it consistant. What are your views on this?

Also, I will just post the POI information as my Australian accent may be a bit strange for those of you in the US (or elsewhere).

I think having this group is a great idea and I am looking forward to being a part of it.

Thank you Linzy for your very thorough reply to my question and sorry for my delayed response.  blush

I am slowly working through the Doman books and have enjoyed watching the DVDs I had shipped from the US, but had not come across these formulas.

I will join the EKWCG and would like to select Biology first up. The weekly deadline will be just what I need to get cracking on the animal POIs I have been planning to make for my children.

How thrilling! big grin

I would prefer to do 5 a week as I have very little experience with making POIs and just like all the other parents out there, no time! I am certain you will get may more EKWCG members by keeping the number at 5. happy

I'll do Science

I'd like to do 5 Bits per week (that's plenty)

And I say one picture to keep it consistent would be best

What form is best for everyone? I normally do mine in PowerPoint, but I could do them in Word or .rtf

I think .doc or .rtf is best assuming you are planning on printing them to flashcards.  And with the POIs it seems better to have them printed on the back of the flashcard so you can read them easily to your child. Power point is more of a presentation format, and although you could do a presentation with the pictures, the POIs as their own slide might be distracting, unless you are just planning on printing them out in which case might as well just use .doc or .rtf.  However, I believe you get more loyalty points for uploading powerpoint....so I guess if you have a strong desire one way or another I would be happy to acquiesce.

Also, I'm assuming we're starting next week right?

Yay, thanks for joining Tatianna.  Any other takers? We still have Mathematics, Art, Literature, Language and Music. If anyone has any questions about what a particular category would entail just let us know.

I think on or before each Saturday would be good.  I am done with mine and uploaded it. Here is the link for Hawaii to Iowa: http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=view;id=3218

I have done a few of the previous groups of states prior to us starting the group here are their links:
Alabama to California: http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=view;id=3115
Colorado to Georgia: http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=view;id=3116

Look forward to seeing your files!

That's okay, don't worry about it.  This is such a busy time of year I think we will get more consistent once things level out a bit.
