Hey BrillKids Parents and Teachers, My name is Rob Young. I'm a preschool music teacher living in the U.S. in the tiny state of Delaware.
I just launched a video music lesson series that would make a great follow up to BrillKids Little Musician, and I wanted to share a discount code with everyone at BrillKids who might interested in trying it.
Preschool ProdigiesIt's called Preschool Prodigies, and it's a Blues-Clues-looking show that teaches kids how to play a set of Chromanotes Deskbells, which are color coded in the same system as Boomwhackers.
If you want to check out to free lessons online, visit
http://playground.preschoolprodigies.com/freelesson3Our program is a series of videos as well as follow up workbooks and songbooks for screen-less practice.
The videos and workbooks also work well with a piano, and there is a curriculum option that does not come with bells for anyone who just wants to use the videos with a piano!
Discount CodeYou can visit our main site at
http://www.PreschoolProdigies.com and use the
discount code BrillKids to save $40 on the program (valid until the end of September!).
The BellsThe real-life bells (that come with a membership to the PSP Playground) are easier to play than a piano. Because there are 8 individual bells, you can choose to focus on a single musical note or a select group of notes. The bells are also super durable, so much so that you can get pretty silly with bell games (playing them with your feet, sneezing them off of your head onto the ground, etc).
I have a TON of success using them with kids ages 2, 3, 4 and 5. Most of my three year old students can rock an hour long music lesson these days!
Meaningful Exposure to PitchI've pulled a lot of ideas from the Taneda method as it relates to giving young kids meaningful exposure to pitch. I spent 18 months developing the style and animations to make sure that the videos are appealing and attention grabbing, but also not overwhelming and therefore ineffectual.
If you've used Little Musician already, your kids probably already have perfect pitch (or something close to it), but playing the bells with our videos and workbooks is still a great introduction to playing a musical instrument.
Free PodcastBesides our membership site, we also have a podcast which is available in iTunes, as well as a free app (for iOS and Android) that is basically just a container for our podcast episodes. There's a lot of great lessons there that are totally free, so feel free to check it out before you dive in on the membership site!
I hope some of you will find this info useful and even take advantage of the discount code!!
