Ok, here is one more website.  This website lists, in order of frequency, the top 1000 most used English words in written material.  Click the buttons at the bottom of the page to move on to the next 100 words.

Something like this would be such a great reference tool ... in making sure that i don't "miss" a common word as I try to plan out my son's word list in the future.  It's a whole lot better than me trying to come up with my own new words off the top of my head!   smile
