Are you homeschooling?

I'm not homschooling my 2Y daughter as it's illegal where I come from. Yet I could do it where I live but I rather like to send her into an English speaking school where she'll be learning English as we speak French at home. She'll soon have two languages which I think is great. I also want her to go to school so she can have lots of fun with other kids by playing, painting, singing as at home she only has her baby brother and the playground are empty during the day. We do a lot in the afternoon, if she wants it. I'm not sure how good I would be by being a homeschooling mom. I rather like to make sure she has a "formal education" and add all what I believe is important to her by doing other activities beside school.

I'm homeschooling my almost 4 year old. Because of long waiting lists at schools here she is booked in for a school from grade 0 (2013) but whether she goes there or not will depend on my work situation then and our family finances. I would prefer to homeschool her and get weekend work. At the moment she is doing the equivalent of grade 0 and 1 work at home with less writing than they would do at those levels.

Yes! From the very start

I plan to for a lot of reasons listed in the article above. My son is 2.5 and we do so informally. It is our practice run years.
I really want my son to have an identity and a better idea of morality before he goes to school. I have seen kids come home from K talking about tv shows such as True Blood that I consider highly inapproiate for the other Ks to be talking about.

I also want school to be a life long learning thing. A lifestyle.  I don't want school to be a place you go to learn then stop leaning as soon as you leave. I want my son to want to read, explore, discover whenever he wants to.

Time and content are huge factors. I agree, with some schools being a waste of time. I am also shocked by how little content is taught. My son is Australian American and I feel it is up to me to make sure he not only gets an American content  education, but I also want him to have an Australian content education too.

Lastly, I just want my son to have a good solid foundation. And I want to know him.

We turned down the position for my daughter at the school and will be homeschooling formally from next year January when she would have started grade R. However besides for an 8 month period in a preschool while I worked my daughter has always been homeschooled.

I would love to homeschool my DD but I hve two problems 1) my husband wont let me 
                                                                                     2) My DD really wants to go to school (She is at a Montessori school) and i asked her if he wanted to be homechooled and her response was "No thanks Mum I want to go to school' HUMPF

We don't plan to homeschool.  Our plan is for them to both attend a private Montessori school until high school. 

Our second choice is homeschooling.

I really enjoyed that article. I plan on Homeschooling my children for as long as I can.

As a child I experienced going to public, private (christian) and homeschool. Homeschool was based on a set curriculum, based on the public school curriculum of the State of Queensland were our family was from originally. I must say out of all three  I still enjoyed HS the best.

Growing up I always felt dumb because my brain wasn't wired up to learn the way that school teaches us. I spent most of my early school years gazing out of windows or at walls. My mother who didn't know any different, didn't realise that the way things were being taught through repetition was just plain to slow and me having to read through copious amounts of information (in HS) was too boring. I was more of a hands on practical learner as well as an auditory learner. I noticed this for myself as I would be able to recall facts taught in classes of interest to me in  Public High School for exams with no study at all. I began to realise that actully I was quite intelligent but had never understood the system. I also took a IQ test on the internet by a reputed website and found that I actaully had above average Intelligence.

I now know intellignece is so much more than recalling facts and have eagerly devoured books and other information regarding various aspects of the mind, how it works and focussing on a persons abilities and strengths, whenever they have come across my path. Since coming across this websight I feel I should have been a little more proactive in my research for my own future reference.

One book I thouroughly enjoyed was by Robert Kiyosaki titled "If you want to be rich and happy don't go to school" He focused more on the pitfalls of the education system. How it didn't prepare people for the practical aspects of life and how it trained people to think in only one way.
