since one of my girls I use LR for is 4 and a half (but is still not too advanced in reading) here are some modifications to the course I made. They seem to work well with 3 y.o. too
1. skip the word flash at times
2. reset picture flash into word/media/word, no pic. audio presentation
3. after few days of seeing the same words turn off the pronunciation too and put on auto forward - no pressure of testing and the word after the picture is always "read" plus I can monitor what she learned
