Just in case you're still looking into a netbook, LR, LMh, LMs can be installed and used in a netbook. The most important thing that you need to consider is that the netbook needs to meet at least the minimum system requirements.

As for disc space, it's best if you have at least 10GB free especially because the new LR v3 content alone is 1+GB. It's also useful to note that whenever you import or restore content files (LR, LMh or LMs), you need to have at least twice the amount of free disc space as the file size of the content you're importing/restoring (otherwise you may encounter errors during the import/restore process).
