So who's from the UK?

Hi!

I'm from the chilterns, too!   I suspect I'm quite a bit younger than the rest of you seem to be, as O levels were things my mum's generation did and were long gone by the time I took my GCSEs 

I'm quite sure that most people in the UK either don't believe in early education or are too scared to admit that they do. I'm another one who doesn't tell people what I'm doing with my son, as it is generally thought 'cruel' to 'force' babies to learn. As long as he thinks it's a game, though, I'm not going to stop!

Hey all, thought I'd add us to the list! I've recently found this site after reading the Doman books. I am in Cambridge in the UK and first time mum. I am also of the generation who took GCSE's at school...!

Hello all! I am from London. I have read about this site in a blog of one of the mums here and simply love it! My daughter is going to be 4 in September and although I haven't really done much about her "early learning", I am desperately trying to catch up. Will see you around!

I have also been keeping early education a 'secret'. I think children's development (physical, intellectual, verbal, emotional etc) feels very much like a taboo topic to discuss. I personally think that a little nudge from the parents can go a long way. Although I also admit, having grown up in this country I didn't really beleive in early education before. But seeing how my LO is developing and how he enjoys being taught all these things I definitely change my view completely.
