I have few questions:
1. He is reading the letters, does he read words too?
2. Have you used any other tool other than LR like hand made flash cards, ppt etc.
3. How did you prepare those letter from which you were teaching to your baby?

I try to answer your questions as below:

1. He is reading the letters, does he read words too?
Ian can also read words such as parts of the body (tongue, nose, hair, elbow, bellybutton, arm, fingers etc. and action words such as jump, kick, crawl, stand etc). Now he's picking up couplets and phrases very fast.

2. Have you used any other tool other than LR like hand made flash cards, ppt etc.
Yes. Home made flashcards used together with LR and some of the videos on youtube particularly the ones from DreamEnglish. But i believe LR accelerates the learning and make it easier for lazy working parent like me.

3. How did you prepare those letter from which you were teaching to your baby?
Bought it from a shop in Malaysia.

thanks for sharing your video. how long would you say it took you to first notice that your son was capable of reading some words? i have been showing flashcards to my daughter for about a month now and have so far noticed that she can read 3 words. that's it. it doesn't seem worth the effort sometimes. how often did you show the flashcards?

My 2 year old is now reading words. At 18 months she was able to recite all the letters. By 21 months she knew all their sounds. I kept showing her words with what I thought was no luck at all! I know exactly how you fell about it not being worth it. Then out of the blue with no warning at all she picked up a level 1 book and read it to her dad!!!! We had no idea she knew that many words or was comprehending that much of it. It is soooooooo worth it! Even if they only know 10 words before they go to school (or if you are doing home school become the age of school) that will put them so far ahead it's unreal. Keep up the good work! We do the brillkid reading program and flashcards each once a day.

PS after reading the book (it was a Nick Jr. book) to her father, she didn't read again to us for 3 months! Now she does it fairly regularly but there's still no getting her to show it off! She has read to her grandfather (my dad) and grandmother (my husband's mom) but it's at her own choice and when she decides. I think that some kids just absorb a lot more then they are willing to show off!

it's a wonderful story. lately, i have found that my daughter understands better consequences, so if i tell her, first we do this then that, she actually follows my lead. so, we have been able to see more words. i still don't know how much she is retaining, but reading stories like yours really make me want to continue.

hii everyone.. Ian started to pick up reading (letters and words) when he was 18 months.. I have been showing him flashcards (home made and Little Reader) ever since he was 9 months. Don't expect quick results.. and never give up... the same happened to me.. when Ian showed no signs that he actually understood what was shown to him the first few weeks..or wrongly pointed to different colours or shapes when asked. but later out of the blue he just rattled it off...

now I am building on his existing vocabulary while doing some Shichida Method memory games..

Hi...

I just bought LR about 2 weeks ago.., previously I was download freetrial LR and using LR lite to teach my son. I start teach LR lite since my son 5 months old.. When I'm using full version LR 2.06 beta, I notice that my son seems not too intrested with LR compare previously.. This situation make me feel a little bit down and wonder why my son loose him intrest. Furthermore, my son still not shown any significant the he can read. I believe mom outside there must face same problem like me. Hopefully u can give me a tips to overome this problem.

when my daughter was less than 1 year old, i let her watch Little Reader, trial . she did not show much interest, not interested at all and looked elsewhere. so i bought YBCR instead. initially for YBCR , she didnt show much interest but only watch when they play songs and all. after a while  she likes to watch YBCR. after she has outgrown her YBCR at 27 months old i let her watch Little Reader again. Now she will watch and repeat after the words, both English and Chinese. so maybe you can put aside Little Reader for now and try something else, and try Little Reader again later.

or you can try bouncing him on your lap when the words of little reader comes out in flash or.. you repeat the words, maybe he prefers to hear your voice.
