I have tried the demo but I wonder why there isn't pronounciation! Why?
My son who is 3 yr-old has undergone the steps of single words, couplets, phrases , simple sentences and books (from another flash cards system) which is a Cantonese version. But I want to teach him Mandarin now! What do you suggest on how or where to start from this program?
And his sister who is 5 wants to use it , is it suitable for her too?
To purchase this program , can we use the points?

@joantsang:have you check the playback setting of your BK chinese subject? your must cross the "pronunciation on" setting and "pic audio on" like shown in the picture.

Hi Joan,

About the missing pronunciations, can you please check if your speaker is turned on, or if the volume is set to be too soft? You may also check the volume setting in LR (you may find this in the Playback screen's Play Panel, right beside the Play button). You may also try checking as per peter_witono's suggestion, but these particular settings should have been set (in the correct settings) by default.

As for buying LR Chinese using points, currently you can only purchase from our Online Store with a PayPal or credit card account -- please watch out for further announcements about other payment options (we don't have final details about this as of today).

Hi Fenny,

Can you kindly clarify if you already installed the latest version of Little Reader (v 1.6.342) before you tried importing your LR Chinese Curriculum content? If you haven't done this, kindly download the installer from your BrillKids Account and install the latest version, then try importing your content again.

If this doesn't work, you may want to try uninstalling Little Reader first, and then install the latest version.
To uninstall Little Reader, please follow these steps:
 - From your Start Menu, open your Control Panel
 - Go to "Add and Remove Programs"
 - Select "BrillKids Little Reader" and click on the Remove button
 - Follow the prompts to finish uninstalling Little Reader

** When asked if you want to remove additional data (playlists/presets, playback history, etc.), please DO NOT check/select any of the boxes in this screen. Otherwise all of your Little Reader playlists, lessons, and even the ones you've previously created or downloaded will be deleted permanently.

 The volume has been turned on, and all settings are OK! But there isn't still any sound. Though, I have decided to purchase.
My  consultant in HK said it cost $930 . Which is  cheaper, to purchase online or buy from the HK company? Please advise!

Joan, please follow the link that Kezia gave you again and try installing FFDshow.  If that doesn't work, please create a Diagnostic Report:
- from Windows START menu
-> All Programs
-> BrillKids (folder)
-> Little Reader (folder)
-> find "Diagnostic" item. 

It will generate a file called "Little_Reader_2010_...zip" in your C:\...\My Documents\BrillKids\Tools folder.  Please attach that to your reply.

As for pricing, it is better you get it from our Hong Kong distributor so you won't have to pay any shipping.

coz some of the free downloads have either really weird accent rather than standard pronounciation as well as wrong chinese character usuage.

can we have 2 weeks trials like Little Reader for it as well?

Hi Aizhen,

Did you encounter this error in the Traditional Chinese demo, or in the Simplified Chinese one? Either way, both files are working fine on our end -- could you try re-downloading the file and make sure you've downloaded it completely before you try to open it?

For your reference, the Simplified Chinese demo should be around 35mb, while the Traditional Chinese demo is about 43-44mb.

I also recommend that your try our suggested solution #1 (Update your computer's codec) from this topic:

I am downloading now and it is taking a bit of a while (probably because my machine is slow). I am going to take your word for it and go for it KL. I think she will like. I already use the most basic basic words that I learnt (through ni ha kai lan) with her.  I will try to do the repetitions and usages throughout the day  though I might struggle with the script myself.

I know I am doing something wrong while importing the Demo version of the Chinese curriculum. I dont get either sound or pictures.  I have attached a screenshot of the message I get and the sound is virtually off. I checked LM and LR and they work perfectly fine.

Please help. What am I doing wrong?
I have already used the Pronouncation off troubleshooters without much success.
