Hi fendude,
Please try any or all of these:
1. Check that "HDMI Output" is selected as the default device in your laptop (when HDMI cable is connected):
- From Start, open your Control Panel
- Click "Sound" to open the Sound control window
- Under the "Playback" tab, confirm if "HDMI Output" is included in the list of playback devices. If you don't see "HDMI Output" in the list, right-click inside the playback device list (box) and select both "Show Disabled Device" and "Show Disconnected Device"
- If you see "HDMI Output" but it's labeled "Disabled" (or device icon doesn't have the green check on it), right-click on "HDMI Output" and select "Set as Default Device"
- Click APPLY, then click OK to close the window
- Open Little Reader (or restart it) and try playing a lesson to check if the sounds now play correctly from the TV
2. Change your computer's Advanced Speaker Settings to "16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)"
- From Start, open your Control Panel.
- Do a search for "Sound" then click "Sound" from the search result to open the Sound control window
- Under the "Playback" tab, select "HDMI Output" and click on the Properties button (bottom right corner of the Sounds window)
- In the Speakers Properties window that opens, go to the "Advanced" tab
- In the "Default Format" section, select "16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)"
- Click APPLY, then click OK to close the window
3. Check your Volume Mixer and make sure that Little Reader isn't on mute for your HDMI Output device
- Open Little Reader and connect your laptop to your TV using your HDMI cable
- From your taskbar, right-click on the speaker icon and select "Open Volume Mixer"
- Check that all volume controls are not on mute and that the volume is set to your preferred loudness. You should see a volume bar for Little Reader when you scroll to the right side of the Volume Mixer window.
- Try previewing or playing a Little Reader lesson and confirm if the sounds play completely and clearly from your TV
If the problem persists even after doing all three suggestions, please email us at support[at]brillkids[dot]com and include the following information:
1. Describe what type of problem you're having. By "sound breaks up," do you mean the sound is cut off, the volume is too low, or is there no sound at all?
2. Confirm if sounds play fine in LR from your laptop alone (without the HDMI connection)
3. Attach a diagnostic report in your email (
