LR video no image or video doesn't play

when came to the video part ,  either the video doesn't play or it shows blank....

Hi KL,

Help pls.  I have tried your suggestion to install from

http://d2.brillkids.com/upload/files/support/ffdshow-codec-pack.exe

After restarting the program, the same problem (video not playing)  still exist. Could you advise me how to proceed?

Another problem besides the video not playing, is I have a problem in uploading photo into LR.
The error message is " LR cannot support images with dimensions above 2500x2500 px"..  but previously I have no problem in uploading photos taken from my handphone (photo size: 2.73MB)   

Kindly advise.

Hi babymum!

Can you kindly clarify if the videos that don't play for you are the cartoon animation videos? If that's the case, please try following the instructions that Lappy posted here: http://forum.brillkids.com/little-reader/do-the-brill-kids-programs-work-with-windows-10/msg107114/#msg107114

If the non-working videos are the "real people/animal" ones, please send us your diagnostic report so we can  troubleshoot further.

About the "cannot support images..." error, please try resizing your  photos to 2500x2500 or smaller and see if you can add the resized photo to your LR word slide(s) successfully. Another benefit to resizing photos is that it could help make LR run a little faster (because loading very large photos in the lessons does use up a lot of your computer's resources).

Hi babymum,

A new Windows Update (named "KB3099406") was released just this week (Oct. 13/14). This particular update resolves the flash video playback issue in Little Reader and Little Musician.

Please try running the Windows update again and install the new update, then check if the animated videos in your lessons now play properly.

In case you've opted to install updates automatically, do check your lesson playback again now.

Hi, I have the same problem. I use  windows 10, the weird thing is when I installed LR lite the program was working just fine. When I purchased LR and installed the full (newest) version I am getting a blank video screen. I already checked to see if I have the  "KB3099406" update, but it isn't there. Do I need to remove everything and install the program again?

Just to update everyone regarding LR video problems, last week (Jan. 28, 2016) we released a couple of updates for Little Reader:

1. Content update - all videos have been converted into mp4 format for all Little Reader curriculum and category packs. This way any Flash and Windows updates in the future would not cause the missing video issue again. Note that you'll need to have a video codec which supports mp4 (if you don't have the codec or you're not sure, please refer to the "If videos still don't work..." section below).

2. Software update (v3.6.1650) - Little Reader's built-in Support Tools was updated with a video-troubleshooting function which corresponds to the new video formats used in the updated content.

Both content and software updates are available for download now. You should see a pop-up notification about the new version when you open Little Reader, but in case you didn't see it, please visit your BrillKids account to download the updated software and curriculum/category packs.

You may simply install the new Little Reader version over your current software (the installer will automatically proceed with an update). Click here for instructions

If you own more than one Little Reader curriculum, make sure you repeat Steps 6-11 (of the article above) for each of your curriculum files. Also, if you own any category pack, you can download the updated files from Account > Purchases > Little Reader Category Packs.

**IF VIDEOS STILL DON'T WORK, please install the K-Lite Codec Pack by following these steps:

1. Click here to download the K-Lite Codec Pack (file is 40.3MB).

2. Once the download is finished, open the file and double click on the installer (*.exe).

3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. You can skip the "Select Components" or "Select Additional Tasks" screens (leave the options as is).
**NOTE: You don't need to install anything from the "Additional Software Offers" screen.

4. After installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, go back to your Little Reader and check if the videos now play correctly.
