Sound files not playing properly

I've just installed LR and am having problems with the sound files. The first bit of the words is getting lost when watching the flashcards. I've tried slowing the rate at which the words are flashed but that isn't helping. I keep getting 'rse' instead of 'horse'; 'ik' instead of 'kick' etc. Is there an easy way to fix this?

I recommend that you do the first suggestion, "Update your computer's codec," and if it doesn't help you may try the others we've listed in that topic.

Thanks! It took me a while but eventually I figured it out. Typically it was only the last option that worked for me
