Now that we have a Premium Content section, most of you may be interested in how you can get your files approved into this section so you can start earning massive amounts of loyalty points.
The BrillKids administrators will be judging the files according to the overall quality of the lesson and content, but
here are some specific points which we will consider during the approval process:
•
Lesson Content (Mandatory) o
Number of Slides - minimum number of slides are set to 5. We discourage breaking up lessons in small separate files just to increase chances of getting more points. All lessons must be standalone and complete in themselves.
•
Pronunciation Files (Mandatory, especially for foreign language Little Reader files!) o
Clarity of Recording - your recordings have to be loud and clear, with no disturbing noises in the background.
o
Accuracy of Pronunciation - make sure that you are pronouncing the word(s) accurately, to ensure that you are able to teach your child the correct pronunciation.
•
Images (Mandatory!) o
Number of Images per Word - the more the better (recommended: at least 3)!
o
Image quality - the pictures should be clear and concise; it should convey the meaning of the word or concept well.
o
Image size - to avoid the hassle of massive file sizes, we recommend that you resize your photos to at least 640x480 with a maximum of 1024x768pixels.
To learn more about how to resize your images, please see this FAQ. •
Picture Audio (Highly Recommended!) o
Clarity of Recording - your recordings have to be loud and clear, with no disturbing noises in the background.
o
Accuracy of Pronunciation - make sure that you are pronouncing the word(s) accurately, and use this function to encourage your child to interact with the lesson.
o
Relevance to the Word File •
Videos (Recommended!) o
Length of Video Clips - 2-5 second video clips to help demonstrate the word or concept
o
File Format - Preferably in flash (SWF)
** format for smaller file size. BrillKids has no video converter software to specifically recommend, but there are many good ones available for free over the internet.
•
Creativity of the Lesson ConceptApart from the pronunciation files and the images, the rest of the criteria are fairly flexible. As always, we will judge the quality of the Little Reader file based on the overall feel of the lesson, and how well the media content reinforces the learning process.
We hope this will serve as a guideline for your future contributions to the Little Reader Lesson Library.
Have fun creating your lessons!
Cheers,
Lappy
ETA Nov. 28, 2017:**For video formats, note that some Windows updates may cause flash (swf) videos to stop working/playing temporarily, so you may consider adding videos in other formats. BrillKids programs support these video formats: swf, avi, mp4, mpg and wmv.
