LR Basic should definitely be enough, especially just to get started. I don't think they'd be selling it if it weren't enough,

.
But in all seriousness my understanding is that the main (or only) difference between Basic and Deluxe is the Basic doesn't come with flashcards, presentation binders or any other extras. If you buy basic, you can decide to buy one or two Semesters worth of lessons.
Personally, if I were ready to buy anything, I'd buy the combo pack of Little Reader and Little Math BASIC and possibly the Chinese Expansion pack for little Reader. I plan on doing alot of other things with my kid as well and since you have YBCR I'm guessing that you have a quite a few durable flashcards and pullout books. If not, you could afford to make (or buy) several different types of flashcards for the price difference between Basic and Deluxe.
Just curious, what is BB and TW? TweedleWink?
