In response to everyone who has been helping us bug test Little Reader, we have just released the latest build, with fixes to the most important errors our forum members have reported.

This build addresses the following errors:
 - Export function now works, which means you can share your categories with everyone again!
 - Selecting File menu, Export now exports the currently selected Category, instead of the Animals Category
 - Creating a duplicate filename for Words, Playlists and Categories would previously cause an application error
 - Various file association issues

We encourage everyone to please download the new build, to update your versions of Little Reader.

Major Bug Alert: Import Function

We've just discovered that the importing feature which allows you to double-click on your new downloads while your Little Reader is open does not function.
NOTE: We are currently reprogramming Little Reader to fix this bug, and we may release a new build (1.06b) shortly.
To make sure that your categories and playlists import properly, you may do one of two things:
    •   Close your Little Reader first before proceeding with the downloading and importing.
                                                - or -
    •   Save the files during download, and use the Import-Export screen to import them. 
You can import your files using the Import-Export screen by following these steps:
    1. During the download process, choose to Save your file.  Save it to a place in your computer that you can easily access, such as the Desktop or My Documents.
    2. On your Little Reader, click on the Import-Export button on the top navigation bar.
    3. Click on the Import button.
    4. Locate your file.

The Importing process will automatically begin, and you will see your new download in your Playlist screen.

The new 1.06 beta build is out, and this time round you’ll find lots of exciting new changes throughout Little Reader, from the Start Guide to the recording functions! As usual, it has been thanks to your help and suggestions that we have been able to bring you so many new features!

Here's a list of the new features we've added, as well as the changes we've made:

The Little Reader User Interface
The buttons in the Little Reader window have been treated to a new colour scheme, with brighter, more vibrant colours!

New Start Guide
We’ve completely re-done the Start Guide, which now features sections for:

    •   Video Tutorials – learn how to navigate through and use your Little Reader by watching our videos, with more tutorial videos to come
    •   Tips – Visit our tips section to get useful information on how to maximize your LR
    •   Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Check out our FAQs and get instant answers to the most common questions asked by other LR users!

New Home Screen Layout
The Home Screen no longer has a Favorites window; in its place is a new Play Panel which provides quick and easy access to all your Playlists and Categories straight from your Home Screen!

Easy Voice Recorder
For those of you who enjoy recording your own sound files, you're in for a treat! In the place of the standard Windows Sound Recorder, Little Reader now has its own dedicated Easy Voice Recorder! Simple, intuitive and with lots of extra functions, Easy Voice Recorder lets you:
    •   Change the pitch of your recording
    •   Remove white noise
    •   Boost bass levels
    •   Normalize

General Bug Fixes:
We have also fixed a lot of bugs that have been reported to us, and have tested this latest build to a degree so we hope you'll find it runs smoothly.


This may be the last beta build we shall be releasing before the commercial launch of Little Reader. From here on, we will be focusing on fixing all remaining bugs, so please report any bugs and errors which you discover are on this build, even if you have reported these bugs in the past.

My congrats, the sound recorder integration is a very useful addition.
This will save us a lot of time and furthermore looks very easy to use.
I will give more feedback as soon as i use the new version.
Anyway, keep up the good work!

I just have a question before I install the Beta 1.06.84. It tells me that a previous version of the program is found and that I have to delete it first before installing the latest one. If I remember right at the last update this message didn't come up and it simply did an update. I'm afraid that if I uninstall the present version of the program I will loose all the categories that I created/imported so far. Is that right or can I go ahead? TX for help!

Go ahead and press delete previous version. A screen will come up after a minute or so that asks if you want to delete words, playlists and cats. Make sure the 2 boxes are unchecked (they should be unchecked by default), and nothing will be deleted.

I have been having a problem editing / downloading. 

While I was in the middle of the process of editing a file, I downloaded a file into LR.  The file downloaded was okay, but when I went to return to the process of editing the file, I got the error messages that I have saved in the attached document.  I did this 7 times.  Is this glitch already identified?   

After I closed the edit word file and started again I was able to edit the word file.  I did not have to shut down LR.

We have just released the commercial copy of Little Reader HOME BASIC, and I would like to recommend that you download and install this software since it should have fixed the error you are encountering.   Simply go to your Account Management Page (Software Tab) to download the latest trial version of Little Reader.
