Hi leecjean, I'm afraid Little Reader doesn't support the Mac at the moment. We do intend on doing a Mac version in time, but it's not likely to anytime this year, I'm afraid. In the meantime, you can download the Powerpoint slideshows and flash card PDF printouts. Sorry again... KL

Pheww... long weekend with the kids, so many postings!!! Yes, that would be really great KL! Thanks! Since we are talking about the mouse button, I was wondering if there is a way to make the mouse cursor bigger, so that if my toddler uses the mouse, he can actually see clearly what he's doing... also, it would be neat if there was some kind of sound (nothing too distractive!) when he clicks the mouse, just so he knows it has an effect on the screen (hand eye coordination). Uhmm... perhaps if the cursor changed it's shape or color when clicking, maybe that would do as well. What do you all think? Hi Forsythia, yes, you can absolutely make the mouse cursor bigger. In the PLAYBACK screen, look for the button near the bottom that says "POINTER SETTINGS", and you can adjust the size there. As for your other suggestions, we may look into doing that later on once we've fixed all the bugs and put out all the upcoming new features. Thanks for the suggestion! KL

Hi I just downloaded the program today. And I am in love and so is my 16 month old Winston. I love that the font is in red, it allows him to really focus on the word. However, is there anyway that I can alter the size of the font. I would like to make it a bit larger.
Glad to hear you are both enjoying Little Reader! Yes, you can definitely alter the size of the font. In fact, you can alter MANY things on Little Reader! Simply go to the PLAYBACK screen, and you can find all the options there on the right-hand panel. For example, you will see "Font Size". Just click on the drop down menu arrow and you will see all the font sizes to choose from. And if you change your mind about the red color, you can also change it by clicking on the red box next to the word "Word", and choose your own color! KL

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: How to create a .CAT file or .PL file or 'WORD File'?

Right now it's set to 10Mb per upload. If they involve video files, we can try converting them to flash (FLV) format for you (like YouTube, except the resolution can be higher). and remember that images can be resized and compressed to small file sizes (JPG format) to keep overall file upload size down. We can raise the maximum upload size limit too, unless you're thinking about giga bytes...

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Suggestions for new word library sets
|
on: June 01, 2008, 03:35:44 AM

Please make your suggestions as to what word library sets you'd like to see done and uploaded, so that we or other users can do them. If you can, please be as specific as possible and list out each word/phrase within the category. Remember, we can do not just simple words, but also couplets, phrases, and even short stories! And even phonics sets (ahem, lawrencelb... ). When we have a few suggestions, maybe we'll put them to a vote so we can prioritize the ones which people want most. KL

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: How to Record your Own Voice for Little Reader

I was trying to customize my list and I don't know how to add the pronunciation. My child calls my husband and I Mamma and Pappa instead of Mommy and Daddy. I've had a difficult time trying to change this. Anyone have any suggestions on how to add the pronuciation sound to a new file?
We're coming up with a tutorial on how to use these basic functions, but in the meantime, be sure to check the manual/help file, which you can access by pressing the HELP button on your Little Reader main menu. In brief, you can follow these steps: 1. Go to the Word Library screen 2. Where it says "Display" (near the top left), make sure "Categories" is selected in the drop-down menu 3. In the middle panel window, select the word you want to edit (eg., Mommy), and press the EDIT button below (or you can simply double-click on the word) 4. You will see the Edit Word dialogue box. At the top, is the pronunciation section. Select the current pronunciation file, and click EDIT on the right. Then select the sound file you recorded yourself to replace it. 5. To change "Mommy" to "Mamma" etc., just edit the word which is displayed on the top-right of that screen. 6. Do the same for pictures, videos, and Sound FX. Hope that helps! KL
