Thank you TracyR4. That is encouraging I will definitely make it better than the normal school and I hope my husband will see it. I hope he will see the children nowadays are tired for not the right reason, and being sick while it can be avioded. Months ago we attended a seminar on how parents should do more and are encouraged to contribute to children's daily homeworks and school stuffs and should be spending more time with them afterschools instead of just sending them away for tuitions (extra private classes after school which we have to pay more). It's like a culture here that every parents should send their children away for extra tuitions afterschools and that shows that you care about the children education etc. Some can cost too much they can actually send their kids to private school! While actually you can skip those extra classes by sitting with them afterschools and do/teach the homeworks together. So, he agrees with that just he can't see that this is just the same only it will be like full time and not only afterschools. I will try my best to read all threads in the forum for now and try googling for more info, and it will be helpful to know how they are doing it in Melaysia.

Hi KL,
If you'd like to consider me for the position I'd be much grateful. Though I don't have much experience in forum I can ensure you the passion I have in early leaning and the gratitude I have for this website will be enough for my motivation to work and to contribute to this community. Currently I am homeschooling my girl and she is 18 months old now. I communicate well in English and was in customer service line all my life. I can work odd hours and you can count on me on public holidays.

EARLY LEARNING / Homeschooling / Homeschool in MALAYSIA: how do you do it?
|

Hi all.. I teach my 18mo to read and plan to homeschool her until 6yo just before she hits primary school (1st grade). But just recently I started to consider to homeschool her at least until 12yo.
If any parents has experience in homeschooling their children in Malaysia, I would like to know: 1) the pros and cons of homeschooling in Malaysia. 2) if there is any legal issues in doing so 3) how do you get your children taking the standard exams like UPSR PMR and SPM 4) is it really worthwhile and what are the common challenges, do the family members being supportive and other things I should know before I start to getting ready homeschooling my girl.
You know, my husband doesn't think it's a good idea. He supports the breastfeeding and early learning so far but for homeschooling our child, he thinks it's a bit extreme. If I am into this by my own, what should I be afraid of?
I really appreciate your ten cents of thoughts....
thanks, nellie

it's 0205 hrs and I'm glad I didnt sleep yet to read thru this topic. Wow Tracy, I didnt know 2yo can do so much. I definitely need to learn how to play pretend and tea time and stuff. And do they really can learn to color in line? Any tips? As for me..think would be 'all the above'? . But I know I have to work harder on scheduling because the routine keeps changing. I was steady for 3 months but then stopped LR and LM for 3 months (due sickness) and now have to keep everything back on track. Poor my baby because she loves LR & LM so much but I was too sick to have the session with her Now that I'm all well trying to plan good reading session and playtime with her and hope everything can be back to normal Mind telling me how do you homeschool with theme? Why we want a theme? Sound silly now but I'm really clueless Hehe..mother of faith...sent you a pm! Thank you!!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Re: Where to begin after a pause?

Hi all,
I stopped teaching LM to my 17mo daughter for about two months (due sickness) and now I am starting to teach her again. We stopped at lesson 75 and previously I only use 'icon' screen and only english.
Now I am thinking to use all three screens; 'icon', 'numeral' and 'word' screens. Should I go back to lesson 1 if I want to do this? I keep it to 2 session a day like normal? Is this way recommended?
And what if I want to teach foreign languages and foreign words? Do I keep 2 sessions per language at a time? How many language is appropriate to teach her in a day?
Please help.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Re: how the schedule to teach my baby 3 languange in a day

since my baby is sitll young I 'd like to expose her with all sort of learning. I too tend to stop or minimize the things she doesn't like and go all out for the things she does like but to give it a second thought the brain cells are still developing and still making their connections. So, I prefer not to limit her abilities. I did a poll recently on what kind of learner your baby is and I thought my baby is visual and sometimes auditory but another opinion posted there thinks it's too early to decide on that or if she likes math or music more or if your baby lefty or right-handed. Everything is controlled by diffrent part of the brain. I don't know that till I read the post. Or else, I would have beginning to teach my baby according to her learning styles. I started limiting our sessions today and it turns out well. My husband will take one language and I ask him to speak proper language with no shortforms. We don't have any other language beside those two we did try to learn japanese when we're working together but we did not finished the course Love to hear from other moms on how they teach their baby languages..
