EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Suzuki Music Alternatives?

Thank you, I will check out that site! I haven't found any music groups around here. The youngest I can find music classes is 5 years. It is at an instrument shop and I don't think they would follow the light hearted, fun approach that I like about Suzuki. Also, thanks for the compliment on my blog. I enjoy writing it. I know I have learned a ton from other moms so wanted to share our attempts.

I agree with everyone too! I am a single mom, so don't even have the child's father for support. It would be so nice to have local people as a support system. I even tried joining a local homeschooling group, thinking I would find other parents who emphasize education. The reaction that I got is I need to let my baby "be a baby" or he would grow up resenting me and learning. Obviously they had no idea how early learning is implemented. That's why I love Brillkids and all the blogs I follow about early learning. It is nice to feel like a little less of an outsider! Everyone approaches things a bit differently, but is still supportive of the efforts being made. I love how encouraging these early learning moms can be!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Sheet Music Creator

Is there a good program to help create sheet music? My son's favorite song is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and I wanted to blow up the sheet music to follow while I play it for him. I want something simple. Just the treble clef and notes. I didn't know if there was a good way to do that or if Microsoft Publisher was my best bet.
Thank you!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Suzuki Music Alternatives?

Hi everyone. I have been reading all of the amazing posts about Suzuki music and am so intrigued. I have looked for a Suzuki school or teacher near my home and just cannot find one. I asked a family friend that happens to be a music teacher if there was anyone locally who could teach a baby or toddler. His response was that there is no reason to teach them young because it makes no difference in the long run. Talk about frustrating! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can find someone willing to try it? I know I have a couple years still, but am at a loss.
Oh, and I have started him on music already. I am using the piano and flash cards to teach him the notes (on top of Trebellina and Your Baby Can Discover). We also play patterns on his little drum.
I can't wait for Little Musician to be released!

Wow, I didn't know they had classes! That's fantastic. (and I have to admit I am a bit jealous!)
Anyway, I kind of agree. I saw a clip of the TW video on YouTube and it seemed really slow. That is why I am making my own, with about a second per screen. I just didn't know if the book would really offer me any information I couldn't get online or not.
Thank you.

I personally love the idea of showing my son Tweedlewink, but just can't afford it. I am making my own right brain style videos for him to watch. Anyway, I was wondering if the Right Brain Kids book ( http://www.rightbrainkids.com/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage5/product_id,168/category_id,54/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,26/) would be a good investment for me if I don't plan on purchasing their DVDs. Thank you for the advice!

I totally understand what you mean! I have my B.S. in Psychology but had never heard of right brain learning. Had I back then, I probably would have pursued my PhD instead of getting married and wanting a family so young. However, being a single mom who wants to spend all of her time with her child, I am just not willing to go back to grad school at the moment.

Is it just me or does working at the IAHP not sound like an amazing adventure. I am sure that I am not the only one on this forum who has developed an intense thirst to learn everything possible about early education. I wish my job could relate somehow (or that I would never have to work again so I could spend all my time raising and teaching beautiful babies).
Has anyone made a job out of what they have learned teaching their little one?

Kizudo - Yes, it is a huge jump! However, you can find them in paperback for about $5 each. Still more than I want to spend with the rate we look through books! Waterdreamer - Thank you so much! I think those will be a great next stage. I will also keep I See Sam in mind when I do my future hunting.
