BEYOND EARLY LEARNING (for older years) / General Discussions - After Early Learning / Re: Do you let your kids watch the news?

I follow this formula : There are two world we live in. One our close world : oneself, family, relatives and friends. Live in the closed world and try to make it beautiful.
Other is external world, be aware of it. We watch news some times (weekly) and I read news to my kids (5 yrs old). But along with the news I also try to help them to interpret them and ask them not to react immediately. What we should be aware of our external world but that should not affect our living closed world.
And as Krista G said balance it with a hefty dose of good news...

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Re: Pinky Pinky Problem

TeachingMyToddlers,
Thanks a lot for the reply.
>> I was wondering how it began.
3 months back, My daughters were at my mother's place for 2-3 months. Where my sister used to tell her about Pink-Pink dresses and playing with pink Dall. But my sister was saying this for other colors too. I don't why she chooses pink only.
Now a days I am playing a song of a Fairy who is waring a Blue Dress. So some times she likes blue dress. But I am worried if Her Pink Fever will be changed to Blue Fever.
The Idea if Color of the Week is fantastic. I'll try this.
I hope, My daughter and I will be able to come out of this phase.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Pinky Pinky Problem
|

Dear Parents,
I am facing this issue since last 2-3 months. One of my daughter ( 28 months old) asks for everything in pink color.
When it was for dresses, shoes, water bottle it was fine for me. I was feeling very proud she can recognize colors ( She can recognize 7-8 colors whereas other recognize just 2 colors : pink & yellow).
But now a days she asks for everything in pink color. She want pink bed, pink scooter, pink doggy, pink biscuits, pink kite ... She is wearing pink dresses only and some times says no for bath as she has to remove her pink dress. We have a red car and now she is not ready to sit in that car.
3 days back she had a high fever. I said lets go to Doctor. She said "Let go to pink pink doctor" She is having medicines which is pink color but crying for others. In sleep also she is crying "I want pink _something_"
Sometimes she listen to me but for other family members its becoming very difficult to handle her.
She is very sensitive girl so we cannot force her for anything. If she gets hurt then she get fever (Pink Fever of 102 o F ).
Can anyone please suggest how can I handle this.
Thanks in advance.

Local Support Groups / General Discussions / Re: Today I attended the Fist session of the Infant Siddha Program (ISP)

Hi Deepak,
Yes, They are available at ISP centers.
And I think, anyone can purchase the material from these ISP centers.
The techniques (sleep talk, womb talk, physical activity, early reading (flash/dot cards), encyclopedia cards etc) which ISP is teaching are all available in Brilllbaby articles and many others parenting books.
One can just buy the material from them.
I myself has done ISP and it really helped me to understand my kids. However, i could not follow all the things they said (my fault).
So ultimately doing course is different thing and actually applying these techniques is different. Now concentrating on the later part of it.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Re: Where to begin after a pause?

Hi NewMom27,
Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking about to start with revision for 3-4 weeks to come back on track
I started showing flash cards to my dds when they were 5-6 months old.
We started LR-LM when they were around 1 year old when it was difficult to keep them engaged with flash cards ( You can imagine ! Two kids with set of flash cards !! )
How old is ur baby and how is ur experience with LR-LM ? ( I dont know if you are using LR-LM or I am not sure if you have baby)?

Hi KL,
My daughters used to love and enjoy LR-LM very much. We had shown them around 110 days and then they went to their grand parents where I could not manage to install LR-LM ( It my fault ) So they will be having a gap of 3-4 months.
After 3-4 months also they (23 months old) remember and recite many of the words and counting (1-15).
I am planning to start there sessions next month.
>> I would start from the beginning and maybe do an accelerated version of it, like skipping days.
Do you mean we should start both LR-LM from the beginning or you are talking about LM only?

Thanks a lot KL,
I could activate license for LR however for LM I am getting error "Sorry we are unable to connect brillkid server at the momnet...."
When I clicked on more information : " Activating Your BrillKids Software... This activation error means that our records show that your software has already been activated twice. Under your End User License Agreement, your license can only be used and activated on up to two computers or workstations. If you believe this to be a mistake, please send us a customer support ticket by clicking on the button below. "
I have deactivated LM for my old laptop. The account mgmt page shows that the currently LM is activated for one machine only.
Can you help me please !
Thanks, -- Kreena
