EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Re: Teaching Manners/Etiquette

I am glad that someone posted about manners and etiquette. Since I can remember, I have been telling Nancy the difference between right and wrong. Even though she didn't understand in the beginning, she knows now what "don't touch," "don't throw," or "don't eat" mean. We also make sure to say "Thank you" and "Bless you" to her. Those are just a few things that we are constantly working on. On Saturday, we went to the splash park, and Nancy wanted to take someone's bucket. I felt some sort of accomplishment when I said to her "don't touch because it's not yours" and she listened. I will check out the links that you all posted. It's much appreciated that you shared these with all of us.

Thank you for the cheers and encouragement. I'm so excited that we're able to give our little girl this opportunity to learn at such a young age. I forgot to mention that she's on Lesson 173 in Semester 2. We conduct them twice a day, but we also conduct lessons as a review from Semester 1. As of today, we'll be adding ceiling and floor to her list.

Hey there! I would much enjoy an ELB. We've had our little one taking advantage of the LR program since 3 months, but I only recently started participating in the forum. I hope if I continue to respond and post that I might make a friend or two. I've been a part of other mom community sites, but I think this is the place for me. A bit about me, I am a SAHM, 28 years old, married, resident of Kansas, and I enjoy reading, educating my baby girl, cleaning, exercising, and gardening.

We have our little girl watch BabyFirst TV. You can get a taste of them on Youtube. Nancy likes The Notekins, Harry the Bunny, Color Crew, VocabuLarry, and Tillie Knock Knock. They have program regularly played on Roku. We also let her watch Pocoyo, Dora, Taratabong, and Leap Frog. These are all on Netflix.

Hi Krista, I would check with your local radio stations because I know that Radio Disney does a weekly public affairs show to talk about kid subjects/issues. They don't charge guests to come into the studio to talk about there issues. You couldn't directly hard sell your product but you could talk about the importance of early child education inside the home. Also, I know that many community events will offer trade for sponsorships so you could do a short skit or demonstration at these events for a sponsorship (strictly trade/no cash). I used to be a promotions manager and always tried my best to help local businesses promote their business without spending any money or at least very little. Have a good day!

In the introduction forum, I told everyone that Nancy has been conducting Brillkids Little Reader lessons since 3 months old. It seems since she turned 14 months, she is understanding new words every day. She can't say a whole lot of them yet, but she is so close. Someone wanted me to provide updates, so here we go. Below is the list of of words/actions that Nancy is understanding. We'll update the list as things develop (Updated on June 27, 2013).
Kick Throw Open Roll Get it Come here Don't touch Drink Water Sun Dog Door Bee Block Ball Doll Milk Phone Head Cheeto Shake Zebra Cat Car Bear Girl Boy Truck Bus Pig Horse Frog Banana Apple Head Nose Mouth Blanket Flower Elephant Leaf Bird Monkey Umbrella

Hi everyone! My name is Natasha. I am 27 years old, sahm, happily married, and we have one baby girl named Nancy. She is about 14 months old, and we've had her on LR since 3 months old. I love hearing her sweet voice trying to sound out new words. Currently, she understands and can say dog, duck, hi, ball, dad, mom, and book. I think she knows way more than she can say, so it's only a matter of time until new words flow out her mouth. I look forward to visiting with other parents.
