We got the checkered vinyl from Hobby . You can use plywood. We got 6 feet plywood from HomeDepot.
The carpet foam was also bought from Home Depot.

Wow.  Where did you get the checkered vinyl?  Looks great.  I need to get ours made if I am going to do it.  Seems like I still have a lot of time, but I know it will go by fast.  What is a good lightweight wood to use? 

I remember a story in Doman's book about a woman who brought her track to the hospital, so I guess you can put the baby on it right away.

Thanks much. Finally we could build our crawling track. Attached is the pic

So we got the wood and the carpet foam but we are unable to find vinyl. We tried Lowes and Home Depot but they got vinyl for flooring which is very thick. Any suggestions as to what can be used here.

Please can you post the measurements you used to build the track. Some pictures would be appreciated as well. Also I read there are some activities which an infant should do on the track. Would anyone mind sharing what those are.

Thanks for the lovely ideas and pics. I am definitely gonna have to start working on this ASAP. Being in my second tri I figure its best to get things ready now. We however did not think the track would be helpful with my DS who is now 3 but this time around I feel the need and understand the importance.

I have formatted my laptop and would be now reinstalling my LR and LM.
I am unable to activate my licenses.

I am using the software on 2 laptops, one at my parents house and one in my house. I have formatted the drive on my laptop, how to i make sure that the new activation does not affect my other laptop.

We had the same problem, all my custom lessons were gone. Now I dread any updates

I ruined my daughter, she has to hold my hand to fall asleep and I do not know how to stop it. She is 19 months today, I feel horrible telling people that I let her do that. But I do not like when she cries, she can cry for hours and never stop and I do not know how to stop her from holding my hand. If I don't give her my hand she just stays up and if she is tired she cries and cries and cries and cries and I tried waiting it out. I tried introducing a "lovie" she still wants me. I have tried for so long to stop it and nothing worked. So I am very interested in an answer. This is my very first daughter and I know how horrible it is that she needs to hold my hand to fall asleep.

We too have the same problem with our DS. He would bite his lower lips and needs our hand till he falls asleep, we then put him in his crib. But if he would wake up then we bring him with us on our bed. I know this is a big NO NO, but we are unable to stay awake much since we both work fulltime. So for our sanity and to avoid the 3am cries we go this route. I would love to hear what other parents are doing.

These are great ideas. Mom2Bee and Linzy , indeed there are so so many things that can be done at home with your child.
