Text amount for word files?

Hi Tech Support,

How are you? 

As I am creating some LR flashcards with Arabic on one slide, and the English translation on the following slide, some of the text was cut off?  How many charachters are the maximum amount for each word file?

1.  Arabic text 1 (did not fit):  التَّحِيّـاتُ للهِ وَالصَّلَـواتُ والطَّيِّـبات ، السَّلامُ عَلَيـكَ أَيُّهـا النَّبِـيُّ وَرَحْمَـةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكـاتُه ، السَّلامُ عَلَيْـنا وَعَلـى عِبـادِ كَ الصَّـالِحـين. أَشْـهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلـهَ إِلاّ الله ،  ]دوَأَشْـهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمّـداً عَبْـدُ[هُ وَرَسـولُه 

1a.  English translation (did not fit):  All greetings of humility are for Allah, and all prayers and goodness. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that there is none worthy of wor[ship but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger.]


2.  Arabic text 2 (did not fit):  [ صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ [ مَجِيدٌ

2a.  English text 2 (did fit):  O Allah, bestow Your favor on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad as You have bestowed Your favor on Ibrahim and on the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You have blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim, You are Praiseworthy, Most Glorious.


3.  Arabic text 3:  (did fit):  اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَبَارِكَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

3a.  English translation of Arabic text 3 (cut off part of last word in brackets):  O Allah, bestow Your favor on Muhammad and upon his wives and progeny as You have bestowed Your favor upon the family of Ibrahim. And bless Muhammad and his wives and progeny as You have blessed the family of Ibrahim, You are full of praise, Most Glor[ious.]

** Note > I just realized that this particular supplication for 2 is slightly different than what is commonly recited, rather it is a variation that is less known, while I can adjust it to fit for the English, the question still remains for Arabic text of 1 and 2, and English text (which for 3 I can adjust), what is the maximum number of charachters for each word file, please?  And is there a "word/character count" feature planned for LR?

Hi Ayesha,

There is a maximum limit of 250 characters for each word slide, and this is why the texts you were trying to enter do not fit on screen.

Also, especially if you plan to share the files you're working on now with other LR users, you may need to take into account the fact that the amount of characters that can fit on screen will also depend on the screen sizes of each person's computer / notebook. So although there is a maximum character limit, this may not always apply to those who have small screen sizes.

We have two suggestions for you:

1. Split each line of text into two or more slides -- perhaps you can have 1 sentence or clause per slide

2. Keep in mind to not have exactly 250 characters for each word slide, keeping a few character spaces unused, as a workaround for those who have smaller screen sizes
