Maganda bang tumira sa ibang bansa?
«
on:
January 05, 2009, 10:59:47 PM »
Sabi nila may bansa kasing best tirahan.
Iba naman through petition or kamag-anak sponsored.
Balitaan nyo naman kami ng buhay dyan...

Hahaha, great topic Danellie!
Ako siguro I can talk about living here in HK.
To be honest, when I first moved here, I thought it would be a rough place to live in, primarily because of the language barrier. But in living here longer, I've found that this is a very convenient place to live in - it's only an hour and a half away from Manila if you want to visit relatives, tax is pretty much less than in other countries, there's really no need for a car because the transportation systems are very advanced, and everything else is pretty easy to come by.

If you don't mind me asking, what brings you there? How long have you been in Hong Kong?
Kasama mo ba ang husband mo?
Alam ko mahal ding tumira dyan, right?
How about education, marami bang magandang school
for kids?

Yeah, I'm actually in Hong Kong kasi my husband and I decided to stay here - maganda naman so far ang HK, pero soemtimes I think it's just like a bigger version of Makati.
Totoo nga, mahal tumira dito - although halos lahat naman medyo ok kasi the amount you earn is proportionate to the amount to spend, pero ang real estate talaga GRABE!

i think what citadel_sp meant is citizenship. di kse naggrant ng citizenship ang middle east countries. not like sa us, canada or other countries kapag nkacomply k sa required number of years, u get citizenship, or pag dun ka deliver ng baby, immediate citizen.
my son is born in dubai, pero 2 passport nya, filipino n jordanian passport holder, his visa is under the sponsorship of husband. ngayon n stay home n ko, my residency is also under my husband's, dati kase under ng employer ko.
dito kase sa UAE, or sa ibang countries in the middle east, no work no visa.
i cant really say n ok tumira dito kse masyadong mahal ang cost of living, plus wala kng retirement benefits unlike sa ibang bansa.wala rin msyadong family place n pwedeng puntahan, kung meron man beach or park n malls which is very crowded on weekend! nga pla, friday lng off day dito, other companies started giving saturday off n rin pero hindi p rin lahat.ang isa pang di maganda dito since arab country, christmas celebration di ganun kfestive,u cnt actually even feel the true spirit although the govt of uae has allowed church and decorations, iba pa rin.
on the other side, its also nice to leave in another country, walang chismisan dito
, walang pakielam mga kapit bahay mo sa yo.walang traffic n sobrang tagal, mabilis ang phase of life, advance technology but as the saying goes, no place like home!iba p rin sa atin!

Haha, amen to everything you said. It really is just so true.
I agree, living in another country is a bit more peaceful than usual for some reason, walang nagchichismisan and walang nakikihalo sa gulo. Everyone seems to quietly just watch out for one another here, and I also value the blessing of having friends that are from different nationalities kasi nagbibigay sila ng different perspective sa buhay natin. Somehow mas na-appreciate ko din yung life ko sa Manila nuon, how easy everything was to come by, and how much space we had.
And I know exactly what you mean about Christmas (and even Easter.) Even though Hong Kong is doing its best to be westernized and celebrate all sorts of holidays with gusto, it's just nothing compared to the feeling in the air you get when you spend Christmas sa Pinas. It's like when December comes around there just happens to be a sense of overwhelming peace and solemnity in the air, it's almost tangible. Ang our traditions like Simbang Gabi and Noche Buena are approached with so much love and dignity, it's just hard to explain.
Our people are blessed with so much love during this time, and I cannot help but miss that for every Christmas that I am not able to fly back.

Hi Danielle! This topic is interesting. There's always an upside and downside if you live in another country. I came from Philippines as well, 2 years ago, I moved here in the states. At first it was awesome. I get fascinated easily. Then it just started to get old and boring. Then I started paying taxes, then I pay taxes, then I pay taxes again. People here works so hard and have little fun. The good thing in living here is that life gets pretty comfortable.Theres so many opportunity to grow, alot to learn. Overall, life is really good. Somehow, it would be better if your family is here as well. The only thing I can't stand here is that I don't see my family.

I can totally empathize, WinterMommy.
Sometimes I get bouts of homesickness because I left my family (like my mom, my sisters and brothers) back in Manila.
And yes, it does tend to get comfortable living in a different country - sinabi nga naman nila na tayong mga Pinoy magaling mag-adapt - and given any opportunity, most of us will more than rise to the challenge that any country will give us. But of course, I think that none of us can truly forget where we came from, and Pinas will always be "home" in one way or another.
Mataas ba ang taxes sa states? Although my dad lives there, I never asked him about the percentage of taxes there. This is a handy thing to know, since sinasabi ng dad ko na mag-move na lang kami ng husband ko sa Cali, and I'd like to know more about financial facts about living there, since this can help with making a decision.
Thanks in advance!

Isa ako sa maraming Filipino na nangangarap tumira sa ibang bansa, esp the US. I can't stand the corrupt government dito sa Pinas! :-)

Minsan kapag naiisip ko ang idea nang pagtira sa ibang bansa, i get excited and wondering how is life there and how we are going to cope.
Meron akong nakausap na mga kaibigan and they are giving me feedback how is their life
in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Isang friend ang nakpagsabi na living in Canada is not as good as what he is expecting.
Magandang tumira at maalwan ang kanilang pamumuhay daw doon compared to their lives here. And one thing, they are very contented to what their government is giving them.
